Tick checks!

Last night, Dave found a tick embedded in his thigh.  It had the trademark red bullseye around it. He wasted no time and went straight to the ER.

They put him "on the fast track", in his words, and he left 30 minutes later with a 14 day course of antibiotics.

This was a good reminder that we need to stay vigilant and continue routine tick checks. We are pretty sure it can be tracked back to Jay's backyard, from 6 days earlier.  Hopefully he caught it early enough and won't have any further symptoms or problems.  Lyme disease is way too common around here, and I have heard of many people whose lives have changed as a result of a tiny, little tick.

The kids were concerned when they found out Daddy was headed to the Emergency Room, and worked together to make him a giant get well card.  Luckily Dave was back at home in just a few hours and got to watch the end of a movie with the rest of the family, so it all ended well.
