A Trip to Sandwich

It has been a nice weekend here, all the way around!

In the morning, Dave and I redeemed one of his birthday gift certificates: massages for both of us. (Well, the gift certificate was his... but luckily Dave believes in sharing!) Grandpa Clint and Grandma Reda took the girls for a walk to Dunkin Donuts while we enjoyed our massages.

After a quick lunch, we piled into our respective cars and headed to the Cape. We drove to Sandwich, located just across the Bourne Bridge on the Cape. What a perfect day to be outdoors! The weather was absolutely gorgeous!

First we stopped off at the beach and strolled along the Sandwich Boardwalk. Amanda and Eva searched for shells, but ended up filling Amanda's pockets with rocks instead.


Then we visited the Heritage Museum and Gardens. We were surprised that it was so kid-friendly! In addition to the Antique Car Museum, Art Museum and History Museum, there were many other things to keep the kids entertained.

At one table, the girls made Earth Day bracelets out of colored beads. Each bead symbolized a different element of the earth: water, plants, soil, etc.


After the bracelets were finished, the girls played some lawn games.





There were miles of walking paths and when the little shuttle bus (or "train", as the girls called it) came around, we were all happy to hop aboard. The gardens and grounds were beautiful, even though just one of the rhododendrons was in bloom. We plan to go back in a few weeks when things are in full bloom and have a picnic on the lush, green lawn.


The highlight of the day was probably the carousel, made of hand carved horses. We rode it twice and it was a lot of fun.
After the museum, we went out for dinner at Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse. Between the buffalo chicken nachos, the trout, the Mooseburger, the prime rib and the fish n' chips, we were stuffed! We called it an early night, and all slept well!
