The South Shore Music Circus is a very unique place for summer concerts. The stage sits under a giant circus tent and the audience sits "in the round" while the stage slows rotates. There is not a bad seat in the house.
Another plus is that it is literally just up the road from us and it's pretty special to have such a unique concert venue so close to home. Forget having to pay for parking and deal with traffic! In past years, we were lucky to have seen Big Head Todd & The Monsters and Jonny Lang because we won tickets through our local radio station.
Last week, we took the girls to see a different type of show: a children's summer series put on by the Kaleidoscope Theater Group in Rhode Island. We had purchased tickets as a birthday gift to Amanda for the family to see "Cinderella."
We had no idea that Eva would be just as thrilled about the show! The night we presented Amanda with the tickets, both girls began jumping up and down, screaming "Yippee!! Hooray!!"
That morning after breakfast, the girls rummaged through the dress-up clothes to find the perfect costumes to wear to the show. Amanda chose her pink Sleeping Beauty dress, complete with a jeweled crown, and Eva chose the traditional blue Cinderella gown, which by this point more closely resembles Cinderella's "tattered dress" rather than a fancy ball gown. But after I snipped all of the loose strings, it looked pretty presentable.
In the parking lot, we met up with Amanda's best friend, Katelynn, and found that their seats were literally right across the aisle from ours.... in the FRONT ROW! (Unlike my friend Kevin, I am not used to sitting in the front row for a concert or show, so this was pretty special. As I said to Dave, it's a shame we didn't have these very seats for the Jonny Lang concert a few nights earlier!)
The girls were absolutely mesmerized by the show. The combination of costumed actors, music and lots of nearby action kept their eyes glued to the stage.
This morning, the girls and I headed up to Cohasset once again, this time to see Goldlilocks and the Three Bears.
All dressed up again!Amanda's best friend, Katelynn, and her mother joined us at the show. As always, the girls were happy to see each other.
While our seats were not as good as the last time, it was still a lot of fun. Although in hindsight, the polyester costumes were not a very good idea when combined with sitting under a hot circus tent!

This was the last show of the summer, but we're looking forward to next season's lineup! It sure is a great experience for the kids!
