The Amish Store

We took a nice country ride up Highway 22 yesterday, past horses and and longhorn cattle. As we neared Pardeeville we saw a man riding in his buggy as his horse pulled him.

Once we turned off the highway onto the country road, we passed Amish homes and small businesses, like a buggy repair shop and a furniture store.

As we got closer to the Amish food store, an older Amish man with a long white beard was walking with a young boy, who wore suspenders and a straw hat.

The parking lot to the food store was packed and we had to wait for a spot. The only vacant spots were the designated horse and buggy spots.


I got some interesting things, like dried chamomile for tea, honey-bran muffin mix and a little horse and buggy pencil sharpener for the girls. This morning I enjoyed a mug of chocolate raspberry cappuccino.

The girls wore their brand new bonnets and fit right in. The cashier even commented on them and asked how my mom made them.

After our visit to the store, we stopped for lunch in Pardeeville. We parked in front of the library and posed for a picture with the statue of Humpty Dumpty.
