An (almost) new table

When we first bought our new house, we needed a bigger dining room table.  Dave happened to find a very nice table at the Salvation Army store for $75.

Though it needed a bit of work, it was perfect for our dining room.  With the three leaves, it was large enough to accommodate seating for family gatherings.  Dave figured he'd get around to refinishing it some day.

Since Dave had the week off from work, he worked on all sorts of house projects - including refinishing the table.  He even worked on the feet caps.

On a side note, while he was working on it, he found a very old relic jammed in it.  It looks like a matchbox cover from the Peter Pan Inn in Maryland.  I'd love to know just how old this table is!  I looked it up and found this:

In progress...

And voila!  A practically brand new table.

Now we're going to need some new chairs to match, because the ones we have are a light oak color and look ridiculous!
