Amanda kept all of the outtakes from their latest skit, and created a Bloopers reel today.
Poor Liam... He is such a good sport.

Pancake Wars
On the weekends, I can look forward to a morning off from making breakfast.
Amanda makes pancakes for everyone, and has been getting pretty creative lately.
The show, Cupcake Wars, may have something to do with it.
Halloween Week: Costume Recitals
Last week was Recital Week in my studio. For three days straight, students arrived in costumes and performed one or two pieces for the rest of the group.
My kids attended all three days, as you will see in the pictures, so we had plenty of people to play all of the group games I had planned.
Pumpkin Patch Match... Scarecrow Stomp... and the best one, Music Theory Baseball.
Amanda dressed as Cookie Monster and played the 'Sesame Street' theme song and Pumpkin Patch Polka.
Eva dressed as a Ninja and played The Black Rider from 'Lord of the Rings' and the 'James Bond' theme song.
Liam also dressed as a Ninja and played The Mummy and Mouse in the Clock.
Tuesday's Recital
Quarter Note treats
Wednesday's Recital
Thursday's Recital
The winners all choose 'screaming lips' from the prize bin.
Liam: Then and Now
This past week, my blogging app quit working on me. From now on, I guess I'm back to using my laptop to post to the blog.
Today, my Facebook Memories (aka On This Day) popped up with this old video of Liam. An aside: I just love that feature on Facebook. Each time a memory pops up in my newsfeed, it's like getting a little flashback surprise. The kids always get a kick out of it, too.
Anyhow, this video is from before Liam could walk...and probably even before he could crawl. Our kids all seemed to have skipped the crawling stage, possibly because all of our floors were wood floors. It's a bit hard on the knees, so they found other ways to get around.
Other ways, meaning the Butt-Scuttle. I'm not sure this video link will be accessible, but I'll give it a shot.

And now, fast forward to Liam today...exactly six years from the day that video was made.
Liam has been spending more and more time one his own at the piano, trying to transcribe songs that he likes. Usually these are songs from his video games or favorite TV shows. He sits diligently trying to figure out the notes and then writes them out.
This morning before school, he told me he wanted to learn a Thanksgiving song at his next lesson.
I suggested Over the River and Through the Woods. He kind of shrugged, and off he went to the digital piano.
I went in a little later and found him on the piano bench, wearing headphones with a pencil in hand. He was oblivious to everyone, alone in his own little musical world.
Seeing my kids enjoying music and doing it on their own, with no prompting from me, makes me infinitely happy!
As I a began writing this post, Amanda and Eva were sitting together at the digital piano, trying to play The Chicken Dance - one playing melody and the other playing chords.

Now they have moved on to When I'm 64.
It isn't always easy being my kids' piano teacher, but in the end, I know it's all worth it.
