Day 5 - Plattsburgh

More rain today...so that spoiled our biking plans. Instead we declared it a Museum Day.

We drove back into downtown Plattsburgh and started at the Air Force Museum. It was a small museum, and we learned about missiles during the 1960s.

Next we walked to the War of 1812 Museum. This was slightly more interesting. We watched a short film about the war and then looked at the exhibits.

Eva tries to lift the 25 pound cannonball, to see if she would have been fit for battle. (She did it.)

The third and final museum was the Clinton County Historical Museum. I thought this sounded the most promising, but in reality, it was pretty dull.

This wreath, made of human hair, was....intriguing...and kind of odd. Later on, we found another wreath made entirely on seeds. I guess they used whatever they had.

The best part of the museum was the music room.

The dulcimer was interesting to Amanda, because she just found out that her friend Josie is learning how to play! 

The best part of the day? Returning for another delicious Italian meal at Arnie's!!! We'll sure miss this place.

By afternoon, the sun had finally come out so we popped into a few thrift/variety shops downtown. Dave found this solid wood RJ Horner (a NY Furniture company) piece for $10. 

Upon researching it later, we're not sure the shop owner had investigated its worth. It should fix up really nicely.

When we got home, Dave and the girls packed up the bikes and fishing gear and headed out on an adventure. Meanswhile, Liam and I spent some quality time down on the beach, making a sand castle resort. That was super fun - Liam was incredibly serious and methodical about the process.

The Palm trees were my idea. Don't all resorts have Palm trees?

When the others got home from their outing, Eva came running up to tell us that she had caught two fish! I think she has become hooked on this hobby, no pun intended.
